Enzo Maresca has explained why Christopher Nkunku hasn’t been starting in Chelsea matches.
When asked about Nkunku’s situation, Maresca responded candidly: “I’ll be honest with Chris Nkunku and all of them.
I’ve told them since day one that we cannot play with 7 or 8 attacking players; otherwise, there is no defensive balance.”
Maresca emphasized the need for a well-rounded team structure, highlighting that maintaining defensive stability is crucial.
He added, “Nkunku and Jackson can compete, and they’re ready,” indicating that both players possess the skill and readiness to contribute significantly when called upon.
This insight underscores the tactical considerations behind team selections as Chelsea seeks to balance attack and defense effectively.
