AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca believes the key difference between Liverpool manager Arne Slot and his predecessor Jurgen Klopp lies in how they structure their wide attacks.
Ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash on Tuesday night at San Siro, a rematch of the 2005 and 2007 finals, Fonseca shared his insights on how Slot’s Liverpool compares to Klopp’s version of the team.
“They have strong positional play and talented players we know well. To win, we need to be defensively perfect,” Fonseca said during a press conference.
He added, “Slot has just arrived, and there are many differences, especially in how they use the wings. However, their defensive pressing and ball recovery are quite similar to Klopp’s style.”
Liverpool head into the match after suffering their first loss under Slot against Nottingham Forest, while Milan earned an impressive 4-0 win over Venezia, marking Fonseca’s first victory since taking charge.
