Despite the transfer window closing and an important match against Manchester United on the horizon, Fenerbahçe head coach José Mourinho is not hesitating to make bold decisions mid-season, including letting players go.
English winger Ryan Kent has been omitted from the Turkish club’s squad. The 27-year-old had already lost favor with the new manager, who has only fielded him once since his arrival. Kent’s lack of playing time has been a recurring issue since last winter when he declined a move to Lazio.
During the winter transfer window, Fenerbahçe had arranged a loan deal for Kent to join the Roman club, but he withdrew at the last minute, turning down the chance to move to the Italian capital. He has since been sidelined, even under former coach İsmail Kartal. The Europa League group stage match against Manchester United is set for October 24 in Istanbul.
