Recently, images surfaced of the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel in Istanbul, where 61-year-old Portuguese manager José Mourinho is staying as the head coach of Turkey’s Fenerbahçe.
Mourinho shared his reasons for preferring hotel living when he joins a new club instead of renting a house:
“I would be unhappy living alone in a house. I’d have to clean, and I don’t want to do that,” he explained.
“I’d have to iron, and I don’t know how to do that. I’d have to cook. I’d be frying eggs and sausages, because that’s the only thing I know how to cook.”
He continued, “I live in amazing apartments. It’s not just a room. It’s mine all the time. It’s not like I have to leave after a week. I leave everything there: the TV, books, computer. These are apartments where I can say, ‘Bring me a latte, please,’ or ‘I don’t want to come down for dinner, bring it to me upstairs.’
“If I’m watching football or working with one of my assistants, I ask: ‘Bring us some food.’ I have everything. If I were in an apartment alone, it would be much harder.”
On October 24th, Mourinho and Fenerbahçe will take on Manchester United in the third round of the Europa League.
