Nigeria international midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has received high praise from Besiktas manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of their UEFA Conference League playoff first-leg against Swiss side Lausanne-Sport on Thursday.
Solskjaer, the former Manchester United boss, highlighted Ndidi’s professionalism and leadership qualities during a pre-match press conference. The duo have a shared history, having faced each other multiple times during Ndidi’s tenure at Leicester City and Solskjaer’s time at Manchester United.
Notably, Solskjaer was in charge at Old Trafford when Ndidi’s Leicester defeated Man United 3-1 in the FA Cup quarterfinals in March 2021.
The 28-year-old midfielder is part of the Besiktas squad travelling to Switzerland and was also selected to speak at the press briefing.
Solskjaer said: “A couple of words about Wilfred, he has answered well for himself. You see he’s a highly professional footballer, a great human being, and he gives us something that we haven’t had. I am very pleased to have him here, very pleased to have a leader like him, and he will contribute a lot to the team in the coming months and years. I am very happy that we signed him.”
According to SPORTS MACRO, Ndidi made the switch from Leicester City to Besiktas during the summer transfer window, adding experience and quality to the Turkish side’s midfield.
