Tottenham’s underwhelming performance this season has raised questions about Ange Postecoglou’s future at the club. The manager was recently asked about his tenure and the possibility of Mauricio Pochettino’s return.
Pochettino had expressed that he wouldn’t mind coming back to Tottenham, and Postecoglou shared his thoughts on the idea.
“If he wants to come back one day, I hope it happens. We all have dreams and aspirations, and if that’s what he wants… Do you think he’s trying to put pressure on me? I don’t feel disrespected. I think if you asked Mauricio directly, you’d get a pretty clear answer about his intentions,” Postecoglou responded.
Regarding speculation about his own potential dismissal, the Tottenham manager made it clear that no decisions have been made yet. He acknowledged his responsibilities but expressed confidence that if the club chooses to go in a different direction, there are plenty of strong candidates for the role.
“I’m not fixated on it, mate. I know what my duties are. I’m sure if the club decides to go in another direction, they have some great options for this role. And you know what, maybe someone will think, ‘Ange Postecoglou is not a bad coach, maybe we should take a chance on him’. It doesn’t turn my world upside down. It doesn’t consume me. I’m here, I’m passionate about what we’re doing. I was brought in to change the club’s style of play, rejuvenate the squad, and achieve success, and I’m focused on that. That’s what I’ll continue to do,” he added.
In related news, it was reported that Fulham’s head coach, Marco Silva, has emerged as the preferred candidate over Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola for Tottenham’s managerial position, with Silva’s five years of Premier League experience being a key deciding factor.
