Two Premier League clubs are closely monitoring the progress of 18-year-old Kofi Shaw from Bristol Rovers.
The talented midfielder has impressed scouts nationwide with his technical abilities and physical attributes during a standout season with the Rovers.
Shaw began the season on loan at Yeovil Town, where he made an immediate impact, scoring two goals. However, before his loan stint ended, he was recalled to Bristol Rovers by coach Inigo Calderon, and the decision proved to be a success as Shaw continued to perform well, contributing significantly to the team’s play.
Now, clubs such as Brighton, Bournemouth, and Burnley from the Championship, along with other teams keeping an eye on his development, are closely following his progress.
Despite the attention, Coach Calderon is cautious about overhyping Shaw, emphasizing the importance of protecting the young player and not rushing his growth. “I don’t want to praise Kofi too much because I want to protect him. We shouldn’t rush things; it’s crucial that he enjoys his football,” Calderon explained. “He’s a smart player, and if the ball had to fall to someone, I’d want it to be him. While he may not be the strongest physically, his speed and skill with the ball more than make up for it.”
Since returning from loan in February, Shaw has featured in 10 matches for the Rovers, starting seven of them, and has accumulated 584 minutes of playing time. In October, he signed a contract with the club that keeps him at Bristol Rovers until June 2027.
