Manchester United may have a fresh opportunity to sign midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who has been transfer-listed by Marseille, according to renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Rabiot nearly joined the Red Devils last summer after departing Juventus, but ultimately opted to return to France by signing with Marseille. The 30-year-old played a pivotal role under manager Roberto De Zerbi as Marseille secured a second-place finish behind Paris Saint-Germain last season.
However, trouble has arisen following a recent 1-0 Ligue 1 defeat to Rennes, when Rabiot and teammate Jonathan Rowe were involved in a violent altercation in the dressing room. As a result, both players have been placed on the transfer list.
Romano provided an update on the midfielder via his YouTube channel, revealing that several clubs, including Manchester United, could be offered the chance to sign Rabiot at a reduced fee estimated between £13 million and £17 million (€15-20 million).
“Many close to Adrien Rabiot’s camp are proposing the opportunity to offer him to clubs, including Manchester United,” Romano said. “He was a target for Man United years ago, but in recent years hasn’t been close to a move there.”
While no concrete talks have been reported between Rabiot and Manchester United, Romano emphasized that the situation remains open, with the player likely to be shopped around to multiple clubs in the coming weeks.
