Aston Villa faced Championship side Preston in their FA Cup quarter-final match.
The underdog team managed to hold off Unai Emery’s side for nearly an hour before Marcus Rashford took control. The forward, who is on loan from Manchester United, first scored with a header from Lucas Digne’s cross, then added a second just five minutes later with a coolly taken penalty.
These goals marked Rashford’s first for Villa, and it was especially significant given that he hadn’t scored since December 1, when he netted twice against Everton.
The match ended with a dominant 3-0 victory for Villa, who joined Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace in securing their place in the semi-finals.
