In Manchester United’s recent 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, Marcus Rashford was left on the bench for the first time this season. While manager Erik ten Hag explained it as a simple rotation, English football legends Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker aren’t convinced.
Lineker suggests that Ten Hag’s comments may have deeper meaning, pointing to his remarks about Rashford needing to “be professional.” Shearer, on the other hand, questioned the decision to bench Rashford, given his recent form with three goals in his last two matches.
“When you’re criticized for performances but then score last weekend and twice midweek, why bench him? I suspect there’s more to it,” Shearer speculated on the Rest is Football podcast.
