Just 15 years ago, Reading was a regular fixture in the Premier League. However, the club has since faced severe financial and performance struggles, leading to relegation to League 1 and even the threat of losing its professional status.
Details: According to talkSPORT, the English Football League (EFL) has notified the London court that they plan to revoke the director rights of Reading’s current owner, Dai Yongge, on April 4 due to outstanding overseas debts.
Under EFL regulations, the controversial Chinese businessman has 28 days from his disqualification to sell his shares. If he fails to do so, Reading may face suspension from the league.
Recall: In December 2024, “Biscuitmen” fans called for the EFL and the British Parliament to impose external administration on the club to address the damage caused by Yongge’s ownership since May 2017.
