Bafana Bafana head coach, Hugo Broos has unveiled a 48-man preliminary squad for South Africa’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria.
The squad was officially announced on Thursday via the South African Football Association’s (SAFA) X (formerly Twitter) account.
Among the notable inclusions are veteran goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, midfield maestro Teboho Mokoena, striker Evidence Makgopa, and winger Mihlali Mayambela.
Also earning a spot is Ime Okon, a Nigerian-born defender currently plying his trade with German club Hannover 96, as well as seasoned playmaker Themba Zwane.
Coach Broos will trim the squad ahead of camp, which is set to open next weekend in preparation for the double-header.
Bafana Bafana are scheduled to face Lesotho at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Friday, September 5, before hosting Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the Toyota Stadium, also in Bloemfontein, on Tuesday, September 9.
