Former Nigeria international and ex-Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has urged current head coach Eric Chelle to make full use of Ademola Lookman’s set-piece skills and Tolu Arokodare‘s physical presence in Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa on Tuesday.
Nigeria kept their slim qualification hopes alive with a narrow 1-0 victory over Rwanda last Saturday, thanks to a 51st-minute goal from Arokodare, who came off the bench to secure all three points.
The upcoming clash against Bafana Bafana at the Free State Stadium presents an opportunity for Nigeria to reduce the gap in the standings to just three points with a win.
Speaking on SuperSport, Siasia emphasized the importance of tactical discipline and maximizing key players’ strengths.
“We need to keep the ball, win free-kicks, and allow players like Lookman to make the difference,” he said.
He also highlighted Arokodare’s potential impact: “Arokodare can be important in holding up play and creating chances.”
Siasia concluded by stressing the need for a clear game plan: “Facing Nigeria has never been easy for South Africa, but we must have a clear plan.”
