Carlos Tevez has expressed his desire to one day coach Boca Juniors but firmly ruled out any ambitions of becoming club president. Speaking to Olga, the former striker said, “Boca has a great coach in Fernando Gago—he’s doing very well. But of course, you always dream of returning to the club.”
Having previously managed Rosario Central and Independiente, Tevez believes he’s ready for another coaching role—though only under the right circumstances. “In my last two jobs, I left because I wasn’t comfortable with the people running the clubs… the day-to-day wore me down,” he admitted.
As rumors continue to swirl about a potential future in Boca’s political sphere, Tevez was clear: it’s not for him. “That’s not my path. I’m not prepared for that. I’m a coach. People try to push me into politics, but I won’t go there. You have to know your role,” he said.
While he’s been linked to former president Mauricio Macri and appears distant from current president Juan Román Riquelme, Tevez maintained a respectful tone. As a lifelong Boca fan, he also shared his disappointment with the club’s absence from continental tournaments: “It’s sad not to see Boca in the Libertadores or Sudamericana. You want to watch them on Wednesdays or Thursdays—that’s what the fans miss most.”
