PSG has officially announced that forward Ousmane Dembélé has been unexpectedly excluded from the squad for their Champions League second-round clash against Arsenal. French media reports indicate that the omission is due to a disagreement between Dembélé and head coach Luis Enrique.
During the pre-match press conference, Enrique was asked to address Dembélé’s absence. The coach downplayed the situation, stating:
“I won’t make a saga out of it… there was simply an issue with his obligations towards the team. I want the best for the team, so I left him out. There was no fight between me and Dembélé,” L’Equipe quoted Enrique.
PSG will face Arsenal on October 1. In the first round, PSG beat Girona 1-0, while Arsenal drew 0-0 with Atalanta. Dembélé has contributed 4 goals and 4 assists in 7 matches this season.
