Former Tottenham Hotspur manager, Tim Sherwood has advised Chelsea to target Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi as a replacement for Levi Colwill, who is sidelined for most of the season with a serious ACL injury.
Colwill’s long-term absence has left a defensive gap at Stamford Bridge, and Sherwood believes Chelsea should compete with Liverpool, who are also reportedly interested in signing Guehi this summer.
Speaking to BetBrain, Sherwood said: “Marc Guehi is the obvious choice for Chelsea to replace Levi Colwill at centre-back. He is a player that will hit the ground running at Chelsea, having already played in the Premier League for a few years and to a very high standard. It looks like both Liverpool and Chelsea have turned Guehi’s head away from Palace.”
The 25-year-old defender’s experience in the Premier League makes him an ideal candidate to strengthen Chelsea’s backline amid ongoing defensive injury issues.
As the Premier League summer transfer window heats up, the race to sign Guehi could become a key battle between Chelsea and Liverpool.
