Francesco Totti has caused a stir with his candid comments on Lionel Messi’s legendary career. On the Viva el Fútbol podcast, the former Roma captain questioned how many Ballon d’Ors Messi would have won if he had spent his entire career at a club like Roma. “Put Messi at Roma for 25 years and tell me how many Ballon d’Ors he’d win. Ten? You know how many he’d win? Zero,” Totti remarked.
The comment quickly went viral, fueled in part by a playful exchange with the podcast hosts. One journalist jokingly responded, “That’s your fault, you idiot. You could’ve joined Madrid and won a few yourself.”
Totti, however, stood his ground: “I don’t need the Ballon d’Or. I won everything I wanted with Roma. That’s my greatest achievement. I regret nothing.”
The Italian legend spent his entire career at Roma, winning Serie A in 2000-01, two Coppa Italia titles, and two Supercoppa Italiana trophies. He also made 778 appearances for the club and lifted the World Cup with Italy in 2006.
