Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen has opened up about his decision to return to the Turkish giants, despite receiving lucrative offers from several top European and Middle Eastern clubs.
The Nigerian international was the subject of strong interest from Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, and Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal during the summer transfer window. However, the 26-year-old ultimately chose to rejoin Galatasaray on a permanent deal from Napoli.
Speaking after Galatasaray’s 3-1 victory over Çaykur Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday, Osimhen explained the reasoning behind his decision.
“I already knew in my heart where I wanted to be. They valued me here,” he said in his post-match interview.
“My club, my fans… There is a really different understanding within the club. Whether a player is in the starting eleven or on the bench, everyone is respected here.”
Osimhen also acknowledged the difficulty of turning down significant financial incentives.
“The difficult part was the financial one. I received some big offers, offers from big clubs,” he admitted.
“It would be a lie if I said it didn’t interest me. But I’m happy to be at Galatasaray.”
Osimhen’s commitment and early-season performances have already endeared him to the Galatasaray faithful, as he looks set to play a key role in the club’s domestic and European ambitions this season.
