On Monday, October 28, the football world will come together to celebrate its highest individual honor, the Ballon d’Or. Among the top candidates is Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior, supported by La Liga President Javier Tebas.
In a recent interview, Tebas commended Vinicius for his stellar performance last season, stating that he deserves the Ballon d’Or, which would serve as a perfect accolade for La Liga. Over the past fifteen years, only once has the award gone to a player outside a Spanish club—Barcelona legend Lionel Messi.
“There is no better gift for the Spanish championship than Vinicius winning [the Ballon d’Or]. I believe Vinicius deserves this award. His last season was exceptional,” Tebas told Marca.
Reminder: Last season, Vinicius played 39 matches in all competitions, scoring 24 goals and providing 11 assists, while capturing the UEFA Champions League and La Liga titles with Real Madrid.
