Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly close to parting ways with manager Erik ten Hag after just two games into the new season.
Ten Hag’s side has managed only one point from their opening two fixtures, casting doubt over his future at the club. Leverkusen lost their home opener 2-1 to Hoffenheim despite taking an early lead, and then threw away a 3-1 advantage against 10-man Werder Bremen to settle for a 3-3 draw.
These disappointing results have left the former German champions struggling in the bottom half of the Bundesliga table.
According to Kicker, the club has yet to issue any public support for Ten Hag, who now faces the prospect of being sacked.
Leverkusen are eager to build on the success enjoyed under Xabi Alonso, who previously led the team to an unbeaten domestic double and a Europa League final appearance.
