Real Madrid manager, Xabi Alonso has expressed his satisfaction with Vinícius Júnior’s performance in their 2-1 comeback victory over Mallorca on Saturday.
Vinícius Junior, making his return to the starting lineup, scored the decisive goal that sealed all three points for Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Mallorca had taken an early lead through Vedat Muriqi’s header, but Madrid responded quickly with two goals in the span of a minute — first from Arda Güler and then Vinícius — to complete the turnaround.
The goal marked Vinícius’ second in as many games, helping Real Madrid maintain their perfect start to the LaLiga season with three wins from three heading into the international break.
“[Vinícius] performed well,” Alonso said during his post-match press conference. “It was a better game for him than against Osasuna, and it was an important goal to put us in front.”
Alonso will now look to carry the momentum into the next phase of the season once domestic action resumes.
