Late last month, gymnastics icon Simone Biles shared a photo on Instagram showcasing her 11 Olympic medals, including the three golds and one silver she earned at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Her caption read, “6 year old me would be proud 🥹🤎🤞🏾.”
This week, the seven-time Olympic gold medallist kicked off her 30-city arena tour, aptly named the “Gold Over America Tour,” or GOAT—Greatest of All Time. The tour provides Biles a platform to connect with young fans who share her Olympic dreams.
In an exclusive interview with Olympics.com, Biles emphasized her message for young athletes: “Just have fun, do what you love, and have confidence.”
The two-hour show blends gymnastics and dance, creating what Biles describes as a pop concert-like experience. “This one has kind of kicked it up a notch,” she said.
The 2024 edition marks the second run of the show, following its initial launch after the Tokyo Games in 2021. The first tour highlighted the importance of mental health, especially after Biles made the brave decision to withdraw from several finals in Japan due to the ‘twisties.’
Over the past three years, Biles has been candid about her mental health journey, including therapy sessions before competing in her third Olympics. This new arena show reflects that evolution.
“Obviously, we wanted to share that story of ‘it’s okay to not be okay,'” Biles explained. “But this one shows the outcome of putting in the work, taking care of yourself, and the success that brings.”
The tour will run until November 3, culminating in a final performance in Detroit, Michigan.
