Burr and Burton Field Hockey improved to 6-1 on the season with their second consecutive 1-0 victory on Monday, this time against Rutland.
Piper Morgan netted the only goal midway through the final quarter, assisted by Mai-Liis Edwards, who delivered a strong cross from the right. Morgan finished with a precise deflection near the middle of the circle.
Rutland focused its offensive efforts on the right side for much of the game, but BBA’s Georgia Levitas effectively thwarted those attacks. On the opposite side, Giana Fiske contributed to the offense with her aggressive defensive play, helping the Bulldogs apply pressure.
Marlee Gallagher, Madi King, and Romi Buckley all had standout performances, maintaining high intensity throughout the match.
Goalkeeper Marley Clark made one save during the first and third quarters, while Emily Abbott, who played in the second and fourth quarters, wasn’t tested. Rutland’s Sammy Cacae recorded nine saves.
BBA will continue their road trip on Friday, facing Hartford at 4 p.m.
