The Spanish national team played to a 2-2 draw in the first match of their UEFA Nations League quarter-final against the Netherlands, but the result was overshadowed by an injury setback.
Details: At the end of the first half, Spain and Barcelona’s central defender Pau Cubarsi suffered an injury and had to be substituted. It was later confirmed that Cubarsi had twisted his ankle, forcing him to leave the national team camp and return to his club. In his place, Lazio defender Mario Gila has been called up to join the Spanish squad.
The return leg between Spain and the Netherlands is scheduled for Sunday, March 23, at the Mestalla Stadium in Valencia, with kick-off at 20:45 CET.
As a reminder, Italian national team defender Riccardo Calafiori also had to leave his national team camp urgently and return to Arsenal due to a suspected first or second-degree knee injury.
