Manchester City’s star player is nearing a return to action after a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Having spent a considerable amount of time in the injury room, he is now close to rejoining his teammates on the field.
Ahead of the FA Cup match against Bournemouth, Pep Guardiola provided an update on the Ballon d’Or winner’s condition, suggesting that his comeback is just around the corner.
“It would be great if he could play tomorrow, but right now it’s not the right decision,” Guardiola said. “He’s doing very well on the training field, but match competition is a different matter. We need to make sure he’s fully ready before putting him in the game.”
It was previously reported that Guardiola intends to feature the player in the Club World Cup this summer, but there’s a strong chance the midfielder will return sooner.
To recall, Rodri tore his cruciate ligaments during a match against Arsenal last September and has been recovering ever since. The “Citizens” are set to face Bournemouth in the FA Cup quarter-finals on March 30. Earlier, we reported that Crystal Palace became the first team to reach the semifinals.
