In their second multi-school meet and the first held at the Minot High facility, the Majettes outperformed the competition, finishing nearly 300 points ahead of the second-place Dickinson Midgets at the Minot Invite on Saturday, September 21.
The meet kicked off with a strong showing from Grand Forks Red River, who took first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:02.01, closely followed by Mandan at 2:02.26. Minot High’s relay team, consisting of seniors Caelin Flaten and Havanna Metzger, eighth grader Madysen Racine, and freshman Chloe Kraft, placed third with a time of 2:07.76.
The individual events began with the 200 freestyle, where the Majettes started to pull ahead. Sam VonBokern secured first place with a time of 2:00.96, while Flaten finished third at 2:15.32 and Ava Neumann took fourth at 2:15.49.
In the 200 individual medley, Ava Williamson led the way for Minot High with a winning time of 2:18.92, followed by Haili Metzger in second at 2:29.51 and Sophia VonBokern in third at 2:30.08.
Emily Dunstan triumphed in the 50 freestyle, clocking in at 26.24. Bostyn Edwards and Kirby Quam followed, placing third and fourth with times of 26.81 and 27.52, respectively.
Sam VonBokern continued the Majettes’ winning streak in the 100 butterfly, finishing first at 1:01.39. Edwards came in fourth at 1:08.94, with Sophia VonBokern in fifth.
Williamson also dominated the 100 freestyle, earning first place with a time of 57.33, while Hailee Valdez finished fifth at 1:02.08.
In the 500 freestyle, Dunstan again took the top spot with a time of 5:47.53, followed by Flaten in third at 5:58.52 and Neumann in fourth at 6:02.65.
Riding their momentum, the Majettes won the 200 freestyle relay with a team of Sophia VonBokern, Racine, Quam, and Edwards, finishing in 1:48.67. Dickinson placed second, while Minot High’s team of Kraft, Zoe Bahr, Ella Gemar, and Valdez tied for third with Mandan at 1:53.35.
In the 100 backstroke, Joely Anderson from Grand Forks Red River secured first, with Dickinson’s McKenna Mettler taking second. Minot High’s Racine finished sixth.
Bismarck High’s Madeline VerDouw won the 100 breaststroke, with Haili Metzger finishing second for the Majettes at 1:12.23, just over two seconds behind. Havana Metzger placed fourth at 1:17.84.
In the final relay event, Minot High’s team of Williamson, Edwards, Dunstan, and Sam VonBokern took first in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:51.69, followed by Dickinson in second and another Minot High team in third at 4:07.09.
In diving, standout Haley Conklin continued her impressive season, scoring 521.50 to win, while Branwen Loeffler from Red River placed second with 403.50. Majette Bergen Gracyn secured fourth with a score of 375.60.
The Majettes will host a dual meet against Bismarck Legacy on Tuesday, September 24, before heading to West Fargo the following week for another dual and the West Fargo Invite.
