In the second round of the ATP 1000 tournament in Miami, a major upset unfolded as second seed Carlos Alcaraz was defeated by Belgium’s David Goffin, ranked 55th, with a score of 1-2. The Spaniard expressed his frustration with the loss.
Alcaraz had hoped for a strong performance but struggled due to a lack of energy in his legs. He clarified that he wasn’t injured or unwell; he simply didn’t play at his best.
“I thought I would play great tennis, but it didn’t happen,” Alcaraz told the BBC. “I didn’t feel right in my legs—I’m not injured, and I wasn’t sick. Before the match, I felt fine. Overall, it was a poor level of play for me.”
