Alexander Zverev has secured his spot at this year’s ATP Finals in Turin, joining Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Novak Djokovic in the elite eight-man field. Four spots remain open as the season heads toward its conclusion.
Zverev’s qualification was confirmed on Friday after he reached the semifinals in Vienna, marking his seventh semifinal appearance of the season. This will be Zverev’s eighth ATP Finals qualification in the last nine years, having made the cut from 2017 to 2021 and again from 2023 to 2025. He likely would have qualified in 2022 as well, had a season-ending ankle injury at Roland Garros not sidelined him.
A two-time ATP Finals champion (2018 and 2021), Zverev is one of only two active players to win the event multiple times, alongside seven-time winner Novak Djokovic—whom Zverev defeated en route to both of his titles.
Zverev’s 2025 season has been consistently strong. Highlights include reaching his third Grand Slam final at the Australian Open, finishing runner-up to Jannik Sinner, and capturing his 24th career ATP title at the Munich ATP 500 clay-court event. He also reached the Stuttgart final on grass (runner-up to Taylor Fritz), made semifinals in Halle, Toronto, Cincinnati, and Vienna, and reached quarterfinals in Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Rome, Roland Garros, and Beijing.
The German has maintained an elite ranking all year, sitting at either No. 2 or No. 3 each week since the 2024 US Open. With his Vienna victories, he has amassed a 50–21 record in 2025, marking the sixth time in his career he has reached 50 wins in a season.
Four spots remain for the ATP Finals. Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, Alex de Minaur, and Lorenzo Musetti currently occupy positions five through eight in the ATP Race to Turin. While Fritz and Shelton exited early in Basel, de Minaur and Musetti remain active in Vienna and could still climb the standings depending on their results this week.
