Novak Djokovic eased past Lorenzo Musetti 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Miami Open.
The match was delayed due to rain, and the world number five, who has won six Miami titles, began sluggishly. He was broken in the opening game as Italy’s Musetti surged to a 2-0 lead.
However, Djokovic, 37, quickly regained control, dominating the match from that point onward. The 24-time Grand Slam champion rattled off nine straight games, securing the first set 6-2 and taking a 3-0 lead in the second.
Despite winning a couple of games, the 23-year-old Musetti, ranked 16th in the world, could do little to stop Djokovic as the Serbian cruised through to set up a quarter-final clash with American Sebastian Korda.
Korda had earlier earned his place in the quarter-finals with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win over Frenchman Gael Monfils, while Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo also advanced after defeating Norway’s Casper Ruud 6-4, 6-2.
In the women’s draw, Italy’s sixth-seeded Jasmine Paolini triumphed over Poland’s Magda Linette 6-3, 6-2, setting up a semi-final meeting with either world number one Aryna Sabalenka or China’s Zheng Qinwen, who will face off later on Tuesday in Miami.
