Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro each overcame a set deficit to secure victories in their singles matches, propelling the United States to a 2-0 win over Britain on Saturday and a spot in the Billie Jean King Cup final.
Pegula, ranked No. 7 in the world and fresh off a U.S. Open semifinal run, defeated Katie Boulter 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 to clinch the tie after Navarro, ranked 18th, edged Sonay Kartal 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
The U.S. will face defending champions Italy in Sunday’s final. Italy’s squad features No. 8 Jasmine Paolini and No. 91 Elisabetta Cocciaretto, both strong singles players, alongside Olympic champions Paolini and Sara Errani in doubles.
The Americans rely on Pegula’s singles firepower and top-ranked doubles specialist Taylor Townsend for the doubles showdown if needed.
With the best-of-three format consisting of two singles and a potential doubles match, the U.S. aims to add to their record 18 titles—their first since 2017.
