Polish tennis star Iga Swiatek, ranked second in the world, continues to showcase remarkable consistency at major tournaments. In her third-round match at the Miami Open, she cruised past Belgian Elise Mertens to advance to the round of 16.
This victory marked a historic milestone for Swiatek, as she became the first player in WTA 1000 series history to reach the round of 16 in 25 consecutive tournaments. This streak is the longest since the format was introduced in 2009.
Swiatek has been a dominant force in WTA 1000 events, not losing before the round of 16 since 2021, when she was defeated in the second round of the Cincinnati tournament by Ons Jabeur.
