The final WTA 1000 tournament of the 2024 calendar year is approaching its conclusion in Wuhan, China. Following today’s semifinals, the finalists have been determined: Aryna Sabalenka and Qinwen Zheng.
The top-seeded Belarusian, Sabalenka, aims to secure another title this year after her US Open victory, despite facing challenges in Beijing.
Zheng, on the other hand, is looking to improve on her recent semifinal appearance in Beijing and is vying for her fifth WTA title. Throughout the Wuhan tournament, the Paris 2024 Olympic champion has lost only two sets and eliminated the formidable Paolini.
The two players have faced each other three times before, all at Grand Slam tournaments, with Sabalenka emerging victorious in each encounter.
