Carlos Alcaraz, the world No. 3, will not compete in the 2025 Madrid Open following his appearance at the Barcelona tournament.
According to Marca, Alcaraz experienced discomfort in his right adductor muscle during the final in Catalonia against Holger Rune. The injury required on-court physiotherapy for him to finish the match.
Subsequent medical examinations confirmed that the issue was serious enough to rule him out of the upcoming Masters 1000 event in Madrid. Alcaraz will now shift his focus toward recovering in time for the French Open.
There remains a chance he could participate in the Rome Masters—scheduled just before Roland Garros—but any such decision would carry significant risk given his current condition.
