AS Monaco are closing in on the signing of Spanish winger Ansu Fati, with medical tests expected to take place later this week. The Ligue 1 side has made significant progress in negotiations with FC Barcelona, and a full agreement between the clubs is now at the final stages. The deal is being structured as a loan with an option to buy, allowing Monaco the flexibility to secure Fati permanently should he impress during his time in France.

Discussions have included a breakdown of financial responsibilities, with Monaco set to cover a portion of Fati’s salary during the loan period. This compromise reflects both clubs’ willingness to make the move work, as Barcelona aim to reduce their wage bill while giving Fati a platform to regain form and confidence. The 21-year-old, once tipped as Lionel Messi’s successor, is eager for more regular playing time after an injury-disrupted spell in Catalonia and a loan stint at Brighton.

Final contractual details are now being ironed out, with both sides optimistic about concluding the deal swiftly. Once completed, the transfer will mark a fresh chapter in Fati’s young career and a significant addition for Monaco as they look to strengthen their attacking options. A formal announcement is expected once the medical is completed and all paperwork is finalized—bringing the move one step closer to reality.
