This summer, Liverpool will not only face potential departures but also welcome new additions to their squad. So far, the only confirmed arrival is Giorgi Mamardashvili, the goalkeeper from Valencia. The Georgian shot-stopper is joining Anfield with high hopes and ambitions.
Currently on loan at Valencia from Liverpool, Mamardashvili has made it clear that he is eager to join the “Reds” and compete for the starting goalkeeper role. However, he understands that the final decision rests with the coaching staff.
“I am going to Liverpool to fight for the number one spot. I will go there to train as hard as I can, and I don’t know what they will decide after that,” Mamardashvili explained.
As a reminder, Liverpool’s current first-choice goalkeeper, Alisson, who struggled with an injury last autumn, suffered another setback while representing Brazil on international duty.
