According to journalist Xavi Torres, new Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has reportedly decided to part ways with goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen due to disappointment with the player’s attitude following his return from injury.

The decision marks a significant turning point for the club, as Ter Stegen has been a key figure in Barcelona’s lineup for nearly a decade. Flick, known for his strong emphasis on discipline and team unity, is said to have been unimpressed with the way the German international handled his reintegration into the squad after his recovery.

The situation reportedly escalated when Ter Stegen’s agent directly contacted Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, insisting that the goalkeeper was fully fit and demanding that he start in a crucial match against Inter Milan. This move is believed to have bypassed normal protocol and undermined the coaching staff’s authority, which did not sit well with Flick.

For a manager stepping into a high-pressure role with ambitions of rebuilding the squad and instilling a clear vision, such actions were viewed as unacceptable and disruptive to the team’s internal dynamics.

As a result, Flick has made the bold call to make Ter Stegen available for transfer this summer, signaling a fresh start and reinforcing his authority early in his tenure. While the decision may come as a shock to many fans, it reflects Flick’s commitment to building a unified and professionally disciplined squad.

Barcelona will now face the task of finding a suitable replacement for one of their longest-serving players, while Ter Stegen could attract interest from several top European clubs still in need of an experienced and high-caliber goalkeeper.
