In the summer of 2024, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen was on the verge of a move to Chelsea, but the transfer fell through at the last minute. However, a Chelsea legend believes the deal could still happen.
Former midfielder John Obi Mikel shared his thoughts in an interview with beIN SPORTS, revealing that Osimhen is keen on joining Chelsea. Mikel, who is familiar with the details of last summer’s negotiations, believes the issues are easily resolvable.
“He wants to play for Chelsea. I know where we left off with the contract, and I know where we stand. It’s simple to fix because we did all the hard work last summer,” Mikel said.
Meanwhile, Chelsea has already made contact with Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens, offering him a salary of €6-7 million per year, double what he currently earns at Dortmund.
As a reminder, Chelsea has outlined the positions they aim to strengthen, and several players have been linked as potential transfer targets.
