Viktor Gyökeres is emerging as a top target for the summer transfer window, with Manchester United reportedly making early moves to secure the Swedish striker’s services.
According to Florian Plettenberg, United has initiated talks with Sporting Lisbon, aiming to finalize a deal for Gyökeres at the end of the season.
A notable advantage for the “Red Devils” is their manager, Rúben Amorim, who played a key role in Gyökeres’ development during their time at Sporting.
However, to meet financial fair play requirements, United may need to offload one of their current forwards before completing the transfer. Sporting is expected to demand a fee of no less than €60 million for the in-form 26-year-old.
Gyökeres has been exceptional this season, recording 24 goals and 4 assists in just 21 appearances.
In related news, Manchester United cruised to a 4–0 victory over Everton last weekend, with Marcus Rashford scoring in back-to-back Premier League matches.
