Liam Delap is displaying impressive footballing talent, but his team is battling to avoid relegation, and the likelihood of Ipswich dropping out of the Premier League remains high. Despite this, Delap himself may soon leave the club.
According to The Guardian, the striker’s contract includes a release clause of £30 million, which would become active if Ipswich is relegated. Manchester United and Chelsea have both shown interest in Delap, with the forward now on the shortlist of both clubs.
It’s also worth noting that Manchester City will receive 20% of any transfer fee from Delap’s next sale.
In other news, it has been confirmed that Renato Veiga, currently on loan at Juventus, will return to Chelsea at the end of the season.
As a reminder, the first team to be relegated from the Premier League has already been determined. Following a defeat to Tottenham in Round 31, Southampton officially lost their chance to remain in the top tier.
