Pool A Highlights
Thailand narrowly advanced to the eighthfinals after taking two sets off pool leaders Croatia, edging out Canada and Egypt in a tight three-way race. Mexico ended their campaign strong with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 26-24) win over Egypt, powered by Naomi Alejandra Cruz Toledo, who scored 17 points.
Croatia remained unbeaten after a thrilling 3-2 (19-25, 25-17, 25-19, 20-25, 15-8) win over Thailand, thanks to a dominant performance at the net with 18 kill blocks. Star opposite Asja Zolota led the hosts with 22 points.
Germany dashed Canada’s knockout hopes with a 3-1 comeback win (18-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-23). Marika Loker led Germany with 21 points, while Sol Henson and Sofia Zabjek each contributed 11 for Canada.
Pool B Recap
Argentina did just enough to clinch the final knockout spot, edging out Puerto Rico based on match outcomes. They secured a hard-fought 3-2 win (25-21, 21-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-12) over the Dominican Republic, led by Sofia Emilia Baldo’s 24 points.
Puerto Rico, needing a win, fell short in a five-set battle against Chinese Taipei (25-22, 25-19, 22-25, 20-25, 15-12). With that loss, Argentina advanced. Taipei’s Wu Tzu-Hua starred with 21 points, while Pamela Zoe Agosto and Kalia Isabel Alvarado each scored 13 for Puerto Rico.
Earlier, Brazil maintained their perfect record with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-21, 25-12, 25-21) win over Serbia, finishing first in the group. Mikaela Hestmann Tierno delivered six aces among her 18 points.
Pool C Recap
Poland completed their group stage unbeaten, defeating Spain 3-2 (20-25, 25-15, 25-23, 23-25, 15-8). Natasza Ornoch contributed 16 points, while Spain’s Aina Ginesta Romera topped the scoresheet with 22.
Bulgaria breezed past Peru 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-23) to secure second place in the pool. Darina Naneva impressed with 16 points.
In a rematch of the 2023 final, USA bested Türkiye 3-1 (25-19, 20-25, 25-22, 25-23), clinching third in the group. Suliane Davis led all scorers with 21 points.
Pool D Recap
Chile earned their first win by defeating Tunisia in a dramatic five-set battle (18-25, 25-19, 25-22, 18-25, 16-14). Aina Grimalt led Chile with 24 points, while Tunisia’s Sinda Ben Hamida and Eya Toumi each tallied 26.
China swept Belgium 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-21) to secure a top-three finish, with captain Huang Yuexin leading with 16 points.
Italy preserved their perfect record and top spot with a 3-1 (25-21, 16-25, 25-22, 25-21) win over Japan. Rion Chuganji was the match’s top scorer with 24 points for Japan, while Ludovica Tosini led Italy with 14.
