Argentina kicked off the 22nd Hubert Jerzy Wagner Memorial in Kraków with a commanding 3–0 victory over Brazil (25-20, 25-22, 25-21). Under Marcelo Méndez’s guidance, the Albiceleste displayed sharpness and composure, signaling strong preparation ahead of the upcoming World Championships. Leading Argentina’s attack was Krukartsev with 15 points, supported by Luciano Vincentin’s 12 and Agustín Loser’s 10. Brazil’s top scorers were Darlan Souza with 12 points and Arthur Bento with 8, but their efforts fell short against Argentina’s dominant blocking and relentless pressure.
Brazil was without key players Alan Souza and Fernando Kreling due to injuries, limiting coach Bernardo Rezende’s tactical options. Although Brazil showed moments of resilience, they struggled to match Argentina’s efficiency during crucial stages of each set.
Known as the world’s premier international volleyball friendly tournament, the Wagner Memorial offers an important test before the World Championships. This year’s competition features Poland, Argentina, Brazil, and Serbia, with all matches held at Tauron Arena Kraków.
