Gerdau Minas kicked off the 2025/26 Women’s Volleyball Superliga in strong form, defeating Batavo Mackenzie 3 sets to 1 (25–12, 25–18, 21–25, 25–21) at Arena UniBH.
Despite the loss, Mackenzie’s Carla Santos led all scorers with 16 points (15 kills, 1 block), supported by Saraelen Lima and Gabriella Souza (Gabiru), who each added 12 points. On the Minas side, Glayce Vasconcelos led the charge with 15 points, followed by Amanda Marques with 14. Thaisa Daher and Hilary Johnson contributed 12 apiece.
Polish setter Julia Nowicka stood out with a commanding performance, earning the Troféu VivaVôlei as the match’s MVP for her precise distribution and on-court leadership.
After cruising through the first two sets, Minas faced resistance in the third as Mackenzie mounted a comeback. However, the home team regained control in the fourth, with Amanda Marques closing out the match by scoring the final two points.
