The SWD powervolleys Düren continued their flawless start to the Volleyball Bundesliga season with a dramatic 3–2 home triumph over defending champions Berlin Recycling Volleys. Backed by 2,500 passionate fans, Düren displayed remarkable grit and composure to edge out the visitors (25:16, 18:25, 22:25, 25:23, 15:9).
Berlin’s Daniel Malescha delivered an impressive 20-point performance, but Düren’s MVP Joris Berkhout and libero Troy Gooch proved decisive, anchoring their team with strong defense and clutch plays. After Berlin rallied to take the second and third sets, Düren regained control in the fourth and dominated the tiebreak to seal the win.
The result leaves Düren unbeaten, while Berlin remain winless after two matches.
Elsewhere in the league, VfB Friedrichshafen swept WWK Volleys Herrsching 3–0, and SVG Lüneburg cruised to a convincing 3–0 home victory over Volley GOATS Central Germany.
