In Friday’s opener, NEC edged a tense contest 3-2 (25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 17-25, 15-13). The following day proved even more dramatic, as the Red Rockets staged a spirited comeback from two sets down to clinch another 3-2 win (22-25, 17-25, 25-18, 26-24, 19-17), sealing a statement sweep of the reigning titleholders.
Elsewhere, Victorina Himeji maintained their perfect start to the season with two straight-set victories over Aranmare Yamagata, keeping them atop the standings. Kurobe Aqua Fairies also continued their strong run, earning consecutive wins against Queenseis Kariya.
Saga Hisamitsu Springs impressed on the road, posting two solid victories over Denso Airybees, while Gunma Green Wings extended their momentum with a pair of weekend triumphs against PFU BlueCats. Meanwhile, Toray Arrows Shiga finally broke through, claiming their first two wins of the season with back-to-back successes against Okayama Seagulls.
