The 2025–2026 Daido Life SV.League men’s season opened in thrilling fashion in Kobe, where local rivals Osaka Bluteon and Suntory Sunbirds Osaka traded victories over two action-packed days.
On Friday night, Bluteon delighted a crowd of more than 9,000 fans with a 3–1 (23–25, 25–21, 26–24, 25–20) victory. Miguel Lopez led the charge with 17 points, while Yuji Nishida added 15. Despite the defeat, Dmitriy Muserskiy was the standout performer for the Sunbirds, finishing with a match-high 27 points.
The defending champions responded emphatically on Saturday, earning a 3–1 (25–15, 25–15, 20–25, 27–25) win. Muserskiy once again dominated with 30 points, including six blocks, while Ran Takahashi chipped in with 17. Nishida once again top-scored for Bluteon with 16.

Elsewhere, Voreas Hokkaido and JTEKT Stings Aichi split their weekend series. Hokkaido pulled off a surprise 3–1 win in the opener before Aichi answered back strongly with a 3–0 sweep the following day.
The Nagano Tridents produced one of the shocks of the weekend, taking both matches against Nippon Steel Sakai Blazers in four sets apiece.
In Nagoya, Hiroshima Thunders edged Wolfdogs Nagoya in a thrilling five-set battle on Saturday, but the hosts rebounded on Sunday with a commanding straight-sets victory.
Meanwhile, in Shizuoka, Tokyo Great Bears claimed a narrow 3–2 win over Toray Arrows, thanks to Bartosz Kurek’s 28-point performance. Toray responded the next day, with Kirill Klets matching that total in a 3–1 victory.
