Poland secured their place in the quarterfinals of the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship by defeating Canada 3-1 in the Round of 16 match held in the Philippines. This victory marked Poland’s fourth consecutive win under coach Nikola Grbić, keeping their hopes of defending the title alive.
Poland started the match strongly, dropping the second set narrowly before regrouping to take control with set scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-20, and 25-14.
Kamil Semeniuk led the Polish side with 18 points, supported by Bartosz Kurek’s 15 and Wilfredo Leon’s 14. For Canada, Sharone Vernon-Evans was the top scorer with 23 points, while Jackson Young added 12.
A crucial factor in the match was the error count: Canada gave away 35 points through mistakes, more than double Poland’s 16.
Poland will now await the winner of Türkiye’s upcoming match to face them in the quarterfinals.
