Sada Cruzeiro began its quest for a tenth Superliga title with a solid 3–1 victory over Juiz de Fora (25–20, 25–22, 24–26, 25–21), continuing their strong start to the 2025/26 season.
The home fans had even more reason to cheer, as the match came just days after Cruzeiro claimed the Supercopa title with a dominant 3–0 win over Itambé Minas in Campo Grande. With the Campeonato Mineiro trophy already secured earlier in the season, the team now holds two championships in the early stages of their campaign.
Juiz de Fora, newly promoted to Brazil’s top division, showed resilience and promise in their return. Opposite Welinton Oppenkoski led the way for Cruzeiro with 22 points, while Wesleen Soares was a standout performer for Juiz de Fora, finishing with 24 points.
