Turkey’s women’s volleyball team has etched a golden moment in their history by defeating Japan 3-1 in the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship semifinals, securing their first-ever spot in the final.
The match started with Japan dominating the first set 25-16, powered by strong serves and precise attacks. But Turkey bounced back fiercely, using powerful serve runs and tight blocking to take the next two sets 25-17 and 25-18.
The fourth set was a nail-biter. Japan surged ahead 21-17, led by Yukiko Wada’s aces, and even reached 24-21 set points. Yet Turkey’s resilience shone through, spearheaded by Melissa Vargas. After saving three set points, Turkey clinched the set 27-25 — and their place in the final.
