The third round of the Vodafone Sultanlar Ligi wrapped up with a thrilling Istanbul derby where VakıfBank edged out Eczacıbaşı Dynavit 3-1 in a fiercely contested match.
Eczacıbaşı took the opening set 25-23, powered by Ebrar Karakurt’s sharp attacks and strong serving. However, VakıfBank’s resilience shone through as Marina Markova led the comeback with 28 points. Zehra Güneş added 13, and Tijana Boskovic contributed 12 as the yellow-blacks rallied to claim the next three sets (23-25, 21-25, 24-26).
Coach Giovanni Guidetti praised his squad’s grit after the match: “We were behind in almost every set, but we never gave up. The team believed, stayed together, and fought for every point. That’s what makes this win special.”
The match also featured an emotional tribute to former Eczacıbaşı star Tijana Boskovic, honoring her dedication to the club.
With this victory, VakıfBank remains undefeated and has extended their winning streak against Eczacıbaşı to four consecutive league matches.
