Russian opposite Vita Akimova, born in 2002, has officially signed with Numia Vero Volley Milano. After a long recovery from a shoulder injury, the 23-year-old will now be fully available to coach Stefano Lavarini for the upcoming 2025/26 season. Akimova had been training with the team for the past six weeks before finalizing her contract.
“I’m happy to finally be part of the group,” said Akimova. “I can’t wait to start working at full speed with my teammates.”
Originally from Surgut, Akimova launched her professional career with Dinamo-Ak Bars, making her debut in 2019 and immediately winning the Russian Super League. She later represented Sparta Nizhny Novgorod and Dinamo Metar, before moving to France to play for Volero Le Cannet. There, she stood out in the CEV Champions League and was named MVP, Best Opposite, and Top Scorer of the French league.
In 2023, Akimova joined Igor Gorgonzola Novara in Italy, where she scored 481 points in 28 matches and played a key role in the team’s CEV Challenge Cup victory. After missing last season due to shoulder surgery, she has now completed her recovery and is ready to embark on a new chapter with Milano.
